Big Thompson River Overlook - Rocky Mountain National Park

This began as an “en plein air” painting that I did while hiking through the Rocky Mountain National Park. My wife and I climbed up onto this ridge just off the main trail and it gave us this beautiful view of this valley and the winding Big Thompson River. This was on our last day and the time I spent painting was so peaceful and relaxing… until some bees started getting curious about what we were doing! I finished the painting up in my home studio.
